Dark Skies

at NHMU

Dark Skies was an exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Utah, developed by the 2019 cohort University of Utah multi-disciplinary design program, and Elpitha Tsoutsounakis.

Dark skies highlighted the effects of light pollution on humans and animals, showing the effect light pollution has on the night sky. In addition to the effects on humans, the exhibit also explores the effect light pollution has on nocturnal animals and bird’s migratory patterns. An example of the unpolluted Salt Lake City night sky was displayed near the exhibit, a sky no longer visible due to light pollution.

As a member of the 2019 cohort University of Utah Multi-Disciplinary design program, I collaborated with the Dark Skies consortium to develop the Dark skies exhibit.

My process included the ideation, design development, and prototyping of exhibit elements.
